Stone Mountain, GA — September 9, 2025 — DeKalb Senior Prom 2025: Center for Truth and Healing Celebrates Local Seniors in Style

The Center for Truth and Healing (CFTH), a proud member of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, hosted the vibrant Seniors in Motion DeKalb County Senior Prom on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the legendary Atrium Performing Arts Center in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The event brought together DeKalb County’s senior community, local leaders, and community partners. It was an afternoon of joy, recognition, and celebration.

A Red-Carpet Celebration for Seniors

The event welcomed guests with an exquisite red-carpet experience, setting the stage for a stylish and festive afternoon. Seniors arrived at the prom dressed to impress, ready to dance, celebrate, and connect with friends and neighbors.

Guests enjoyed entertainment by recording artist Reggie Boone, the show was hosted by Brinca the Equalyzer, and music curated by DJ Will, creating an upbeat and energetic atmosphere throughout the evening.

Delicious Dining and Community Partnerships

Attendees enjoyed a gourmet meal at the event, thanks to the generous sponsorship of General Tso’s Restaurant & Catering. The Atlanta-based company, known for its high-efficiency Chinese-American catering and a strong commitment to community engagement, provided a delightful dinner as part of its community giving initiative. This initiative is a cornerstone of the company’s community outreach. It focuses on supporting community organizations, minority-owned businesses, and immigrant entrepreneurs. Generous partnerships from JenCare Senior Medical CentersShanta Lana, LLC, The Hype Magazine, The Brantley Foundation, and the Atrium Performing Arts Center, made the event possible.

Honoring Community Leaders

CFTH presented Special Community Champion Awards to local leaders who continue to make a difference in the metro Atlanta community. The recognition highlighted the impact of individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of seniors and strengthening community bonds. Those honored include Reggie Johnson (DeKalb Community Resource Network), Brinca the Equalyzer, Arkee Hodges (Black Achievement Fund)Atlanta Black Chambers, Izora Dennis (ID Hope Ministries), Rising Star Aaleyah Flavien, and many others. Olu Brown, Gubernatorial candidate for Georgia Governor, stopped by and showed the seniors love and support.

“This event was more than a prom—it was a celebration of our seniors, their legacy, and their continued impact on our community,” said Queen Shanta Lana Hereford, Founder of the Center for Truth and Healing. “The energy, joy, and unity in the room was truly inspiring.”

Celebrating Seniors and Building Community

The Center for Truth and Healing’s (CFTH) Seniors in Motion Senior Prom emphasized the importance of honoring seniors while fostering connections, engagement, and community pride. CFTH’s commitment to creating memorable experiences for the senior community was evident in every detail, from entertainment and dining to recognition and celebration.

Looking Ahead: A Taste of East Memorial Drive

The Center for Truth and Healing invites the community to join the next major event, A Taste of East Memorial Drive, on September 27, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Square, 5479 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA. This outdoor celebration of local culture, cuisine, and collaboration continues CFTH’s mission to empower, uplift, and build stronger communities in DeKalb County and beyond.

Guests can expect a day of fun and festivities, including music, live entertainment, local food vendors, and family-friendly activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local artisans, restaurants, and community leaders while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of East Memorial Drive.

“A Taste of East Memorial Drive is about bringing the community together, showcasing local talent, and highlighting the vibrant culture that makes this neighborhood so special,” said Terry Brantley Jr., whose family has owned and operated The Atrium Performing Arts Center where the event will be hosted for more than 30 years.  “We want everyone—families, friends, and neighbors—to come out, enjoy the festivities, and experience the best of our community.”

This event, like the Seniors in Motion Senior Prom, reflects CFTH’s and their partners ongoing commitment to community engagement, empowerment, and connection, creating spaces where people of all ages can come together to celebrate, learn, and grow.
