Joint Budget Hearing Week During last week’s recess week, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees held joint hearings. The hearings began with Governor Brian Kemp on Tuesday, January 19th and concluded on Thursday, January 21st. Each Statewide Officer, Supreme Court, and State Agencies presented their proposed budgets. The State Economist also presented an interesting presentation on the state of the economy. Legislative Update: Week 1 - Jan 11-15, 2021
The Georgia General Assembly kicked off the 2021 session on Monday January 11th. The General Assembly completed four legislative days and is in recess until Tuesday, January 26. Speaker David Ralston of Blue Ridge was reelected as Speaker of the House. Senator Butch Miller of Gainesville was reelected as President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
