DESCRIPTION:Join the DeKalb Chamber Economic Development Committee in their quarterly meeting with a focus on working with the County to recruit and retain industry. Meet Dorian DeBarr\, Interim President & CEO\, Decide DeKalb Development Authority who will update the committee on the county's strategic economic development plan. \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, DeKalb County engaged a consulting firm to help manage a collaborative and inclusive process to create a five-year economic development strategic plan (Strategic Plan). Since the adoption of the plan in August 2014\, Decide DeKalb has partnered with DeKalb County government\, DeKalb County Schools\, the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce\, and other community and institutional partners to implement many of the recommendations included in the Strategic Plan. As the Strategic Plan is slated to end in 2018\, Decide DeKalb and the County obtained the services of RKG to identify and ultimately better utilize DeKalb's core competitive advantages to sustain our current businesses\, to mitigate any potential deficits that might impede our economic development growth\, to attract new businesses and residents\, and to formulate policy interventions necessary to support these objectives. Upon the completion of the 2023 update\, it will lay out the roadmap for DeKalb County to:\n\n Remain competitive in the metro region\, the US\, and worldwide.\n Recognize the need to update its Strategic Plan to reassess its core assets\, strengths\, and opportunities. \n Re-evaluate the competitive environment at the local\, regional\, national\, and international levels.\n Re-examine the County's potential with its urban density characteristics.\n\n\n\nDeKalb Chamber Committee meetings are only for ***Chamber members in good standing.***
