SUMMARY:WELD-Hosted "Difficult Conversations in the Workplace"
DESCRIPTION:Difficult conversations are sometimes a necessary part of interacting with people\, whether that is in the work environment or outside of it. Because having difficult conversations can be unpleasant\, we avoid them. We talk about those whose behavior creates concern but do not talk to them. We avoid conversations that may raise negative emotions\, choosing instead to 'lay low' or seek comfort from others who are just as uncomfortable and disagree with the behavior that is causing or creating a negative atmosphere. \n\n\n\nJoin us February 28\, 2018 from 8:30am to 9:30am for "Difficult Conversations In The Workplace". Seating is limited and can accommodate a small group. One registration per attendee. This is a WELD-hosted event sponsored by Decide DeKalb Development Authority.\n\n\n\nIn this conversation\, Susan Clotfelter\, Director of Human Resources at HR Strategies\, will speak with us on the following areas:\n\n	Effective communication skills\n	Dealing with conflict\n	Handling disciplinary meetings \n	Initiating personnel actions\n\n\nSusan has extensive Human Resource experience\, previously working in a variety of HR management roles in the corporate world\, as well as an independent Human Resources Consultant. Susan holds a B.S. degree with a major in Human Resource Management and an MBA from Auburn University. She is a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).\n\n\n\nFor more information on this or other WELD events\, contact Rachea Brooks rbrooks@dekalbchamber.org or call us at the Chamber\, 404-378-8000.
