SUMMARY:DeKalb Day of Service at Frazer Center
DESCRIPTION:The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in the DeKalb Day of Service. Network with fellow Chamber members while we give back to one of our local nonprofit organizations.\n\n\n\nSpend the morning volunteering in the Frazer Forest\, a 39-acre old-growth forest on the Frazer Center campus with a trail system that is open to the public.\n\n\n\nWho Should Volunteer: This is an outdoor activity that involves physical tasks. Most tasks are similar to light yard work and gardening\, which will include kneeling\, pushing and filling wheelbarrows\, etc. A few\, like sandbagging\, may require some heavy lifting. Volunteers should be age 16 or older. All volunteers will be asked to sign a liability waiver.\n\n\n\nWhat to Wear and Bring: Frazer Center staff will facilitate the work groups and will provide tools. It is recommended that volunteers wear lightweight work clothing that covers and protects arms and legs\, and bring work gloves and a water bottle if possible.\n\n\n\nTasks:\n\n	Trail maintenance (using wheelbarrows\, shovels\, and rakes to spread mulch on forest trails\; using fallen timber to edge forest trails\, trash pick up\, etc.)\n	Invasive removal: With direction from our staff\, working on removal of kudzu\, privet\, liriope\, Japanese chaff flower\, and other invasives using hand tools\n	Sandbagging: Filling and placing sandbags along creek bank to stem erosion and protect the root system of Frazer Forest's champion twin tulip poplars
